What are your opening hours?

We're open every day, 8.30am to 4.30pm. Breakfast is served 8.30–11.30, brunch 11–4.30 and lunch 12–4.30. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday we stay open for dinner, 6 to 9.30pm.

Do I need to book a table?

We'd always recommend booking for weekends, Sunday roasts and larger groups, so we can save you the right table. You can reserve any time using the Book Now button on our site.

Are dogs welcome?

Always. There's room under the table for a good dog, and you'll find plenty of four-legged regulars with us.

Are children welcome?

Very much so. We're a family place through and through. Children are welcome at every table, and there's a babycino on the menu for the smallest guests.

Can you cater for dietary requirements?

Yes. Our menu is marked with vegetarian (V), plant-based (PB) and gluten-free (GF) options. If you have any allergies or intolerances, please let your server know before ordering and we'll happily talk you through the dishes.

Do you serve a Sunday roast?

We do, every Sunday from 12 noon. Slow-cooked Irish beef sirloin & beef cheek, roasted chicken or a seasonal vegetable wellington, with all the trimmings. It's a popular one, so booking is recommended.

Can I hold a wedding or private event here?

Absolutely. The Reading Room and Saltdean Lido make an extraordinary setting for weddings, celebrations and private dining. Do you sell gift cards?

We do. A Reading Room gift card can be spent on anything we offer, arrives instantly by email, and is ready to forward or hand over. You'll find them on our Gift Cards page.

What coffee do you serve?

Our own Skylark blend, specialty coffee, ethically sourced and roasted just up the road. We think it's the best in Brighton; come and tell us if we're right.

Easy by car, bus or bike. Parking is free for all our guests in the car park beside the building, with a quick registration at the desk for stays longer than two hours. We're on the major Brighton coastal bus route, and there's a Brighton & Hove e-bike drop-off directly outside the door for anyone riding along the seafront.
